I think about the birth of my son all of the time. Having Jackie at my birth meant a lot to me. I was very worried of how the birth of my second son would go as my first came with a lot of medical intervention. She reassured me I could make it through every contraction, not to be scared of the pain, but rather to embrace it - a place to go within myself to escape.  Not only did she give me physical support, but most important she gave me emotional support.

When I look back on the birth of my son and I think about what it meant to me to have Jackie's support it occurs to me that this is exactly what Doulas are for - giving you the birth that you always wanted to have. Labor may only be one day of your life but it is a day that you will remember for the rest of your life. I know that no matter what happens at the end of it all you will have a baby. I also believe that your labor is the start of your relationship with your baby. And having an easier labor allowed me to spend less time recovering and more time bonding with my baby.

I don't think Tom and I can thank you enough for all the support (emotional) you gave us through our pregnancy. How you were so willing to listen to me at any given time about my fears, helping me get through my doctors appointments when I was an emotional wreck because I was scared. I hope others are as lucky as I am to find someone to aid them in making and having the best birth possible.

I was just lying her watching my little "peanut" slowly wake up.  I can't tell you how much I appreciate all of your love and support this past week and months.  You're an awesome doula.  You know my husband is a "tough sell", but I've never seen him have such a profound change of persepective as he had this week.  A man who never uttered the word "doula" can now not stop talking about it.  You're incredible!
